In the weekend again agility competition at Vaste-Kuuste. Judge was Stefi Praakli. Grade 2.
1. jumping course. Nicely flowing course. Not too "straight -in-your-face" traps. I managed to not mess up handling and result was clean run, speed 5.56m/s and 1st place.
2nd jumping course. At the start I did not left her enough behind, that caused me to be late for the jump after tunnel, that caused me to be late for blind cross after the jump :) Somehow still the turn worked. Then for a while tings went smoothly. She did turn away from me when should have taking the wing on my side. Maybe that caused me running so much out after the tunnel..anyway my certain plan was not to go further than the tunnel end. But in the video its seen how Im going actually a lot after (1-1.5m).... this caused me to be very late at the next jump (0.5m). And that meant that I could not turn her to the correct line for the next jump...DSQ.
1st agility course. The course demanded some more skills from the dog. Like quite independent slalom. My plan was to run parallel until the end of the slalom and then do fast blind cross. But instead I did regular front that caused a lot of time. By the time i finished with my cross move, Minnie was almost catching up with me. And at the tunnel we were together. It was crucial to be ahead there. Because the next jump was behind and thanks to the fact that Minnie turned slightly to me after tunnel - her line went directly to the jump. DSQ. After that the dog walk and see-saw were very nice. After the dog walk i kinda lost her. I think I did not slow down there in order to get her closer to me. She was following the line to slalom.
2nd agility course. I think it went quite well. Until I did not stretch my arm out to send her to the jump. I thought that it was obvious. Quite stupid mistake by me. But she instead did the outside of the jump. DSQ. Then going to the A-frame. Because of the tunnel stretched out a lot on the side of the tunne and I was late. Then going on the A-frame was not nice and coming of there also (jumped big time). Probably I should have change side before the A-frame. After the A-frame coming out from the tunnel I stretched out the arm to show the backside of the jump (second stupid mistake). Instead of just calling her and her line would have taken her correctly. But as I was reaching out then my smart dog took the jump straight ahead. In the end we had the same sequence with slalom-jump-tunnel-jump out side. This time i did blind and it worked.
Here are all the runs in one video:
This competition showed how much 0.5m matters. Im thankful that I have videos to look after to make this analyse. Hopefully I learn from this :)
